Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick

"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priest the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them.  And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ."     (CCC 1499)

The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is for one who is seriously ill and in need of God's healing and anointing whether in the hospital, nursing home, or in their home. It is not only for the dying.

Annually on the feast of St. Anne, July 26, the sacrament is offered after the morning Mass for those in need who are capable of coming to the church.
