The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) adapted for older Children and Youth, second grade through high school, is for those interested in becoming Catholic. It is also for baptized Catholics who are beyond grade six who have only been baptized and wish to celebrate First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Eucharist.

For the unbaptized the length of time is approximately two years: one foundational year of catechesis in our Children's Catechetical Program and an additional year of catechesis involving an indepth look at the Sacraments of Initiation.  They will then celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil at the end of the second year.

Those baptized in another Christian denomination can be received into full communion with the Catholic Church at any time of the year following a year of catechesis in the Catholic faith.

The baptized Catholics may choose to celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and  Holy Eucharist when either the Archbishop or his delegate comes to the parish for Confirmation after the appropriate Sacramental Preparation program is completed.

The Children's Catechetical sessions are on Sunday mornings. The parents of these young people are closely involved in the process and in discerning their child's readiness for the sacraments. Sacramental Preparation programs are offered at various times during the year.

For more information and to initiate this process, call Karen at 303.420.1280.
