SHRINE OF ST. ANNE RESPECT LIFE PROGRAM

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Shrine of St. Anne Respect Life Committee is, by their actions and the causes they support, to promote the dignity and worth of every person, from conception to natural death. This is a reflection of our faith, deeply rooted in the Gospel, and in the love of Christ the Redeemer, the Lord of Life.

*Monthly Adoration and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament/Holy Hour for Life 3rd Sunday of the month 4 PM

*Monthly Archdiocesan Respect Life Meetings Parish rep attends Archdiocesan Respect Life meetings to disseminate info from the Archdiocesan RL Office to our parish

EVERY YEAR IN JANUARY
*March for Life Denver
Parish wide participation in the March for Life Denver, originating on the Capitol steps, headed by Archbishop Aquila

*Penitential Mass of Remembrance and Prayer Vigil, St. Anne Church
Mass of Remembrance with Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament afterwards until 3 PM

*Yearly Respect Life Holy Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception



EVERY YEAR IN MARCH
*40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil
Prayer vigils at Planned Parenthood for two days each spring 40 Days for Life Campaign. Parishioners commit to peaceful prayer by the hour at the abortion facility. Fr Piotr celebrates the Holy Mass at 11:30 AM each day, along with the Stations of the Cross at 3 PM. This is a peaceful, prayer vigil to pray for an end to abortion and to pray for health care workers involved in the industry. Program in its 4th year at St. Anne's

*Spiritual Adoption
Parishioners of St. Anne name and commit to pray daily for nine months for a baby in danger of abortion. This program was initiated by Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Program is in its 4th year at St. Annes and has participation by 200-300 parishioners.

*Fill the Bottle
Parishioners fill baby bottles with spare change for two months and return the filled bottle to St. Anne's on Mother's Day. They then receive another bottle and return it on Father's Day. Proceeds are given to four local crisis pregnancy centers. Program in its 4th year at St. Anne's.

*Life Chain (Elizabeth McCarthy and Michelle Maffey)
Parishioners from St. Anne's and St. Joan of Arc stand in a line along Ward Rd. holding positive pro-life signs, (such as defend life or cherish life). This is a friendly witness for life, as we wave and smile at people as they pass by.

*Gospel of Life Conference Archdiocesan conference

OTHER PRO-LIFE ACTIVITIES
*Respect Life Newsletter
Monthly newsletter in the parish bulletin covering a variety of pro-life issues 

*Involvement in Pro-Life Legislation
Mobilize people to action with Personhood, the Brady Amendment, or as an action response to legislation dealing with abortion, euthanasia, and the Culture of Death. Done in conjunction with the Archdiocesan RL Office

*Pro Life Literature Hand Out
Informative prolife flier distributed at REI, Olde Town Arvada, Metro State College, and the 16th street mall

*Elderly Visitation
Program offers help to elderly parishioners with the needs they may have. Volunteers provide assistance. Bulletin placement asking for requests and volunteers two times per year.

*Education Program
Respect Life presentation to the 8th graders at Shrine of St. Anne's. Each year, the director of Respect Life for the Archdiocese, Lynn Grandon presents a full day retreat for the 8th graders.        7th and 8th graders participate in the Spiritual Adoption and Fill the Bottle Campaigns

*Signs of Hope
Nonprofit organization that places prolife billboards in the Denver area. Fr. Piotr is the spiritual director of Signs of Hope

*Coffee and Donuts I Movie I Video
Prolife video playing during coffee and donuts after Sunday Masses

*Respect Life hosts Coffee and Donuts
Committee hosts coffee and donuts and cleans up afterwards
