| Parents whose children attend the public school may choose a weekly Catechetical Program or a Home Study Program for their children in Pre-Kindergarten (age 4) through grade six. Either choice is intended to supplement what takes place in the home by the parents who are the primary educators of their children's faith. | |
| Registration for these programs takes place on the last two weekends of August in the Parish Center after all the weekend Masses. | |
| The Weekly Program is offered in the school on Sunday morning from 9:15 - 10:30 a.m. (PreK-Grade 6) and on Tuesday evening, 6:45 - 8 p.m., (Grades 1 - 6) September through April. Children gather in the school cafeteria upon arrival, east side of the school, where the Catechetical sessions always begin with group prayer before they move into their small groups in the classrooms with a trained Catechist. | |
| Parents are encouraged to stay for the opening prayer with their children. The prayer is designed around the feast days of saints and seasonal events of the liturgical year. Following this brief prayer, parents are invited to the school library to participate in Adult Enrichment sessions on Sunday morning and for Bible Study on Tuesday evening while the children are in their classrooms. These opportunities are intended to support the parents in their continued faith formation. | |
| The Catechetical material for the weekly program that is used with the children is based on the Sunday scripture readings and is known as a Lectionary-based process. Our doctine and teachings of the Church flow from scripture and children are helped in making connections with daily living of these truths. It is also our hope that this will help the children be better prepared to listen and participate prayerfully when they go to Sunday Mass. A colorful new handout is given to the children weekly to take home so that the parents can further review and discuss the new week's learning. | |

| This option is offered to parents as an alternative to the weekly program. Parents are provided with a specific book for the child and a guide for themselves. The material is designed for each individual grade level with certain aspects of our faith being developed each year. It can be a wonderful weekly family-learning activity, provided that a schedule is set and followed. | |
